Kitten rescue

BAWCS welcomed a very underweight kitten into care after he was found alone, with no mother or siblings nearby.

Although he appeared “lively,” he wasn’t interested in eating on his own and has needed syringe-feeding to ensure he gets the nutrients he desperately needs.
His firm but black stools are also a concern. He’s now been wormed, and while that may not be the cause, it’s an important reminder of just how vital proper worming is for young kittens.
With the huge number of “free kittens” being given away online with no worming schedule undertaken, these kittens are being set up for failure if the person taking them on is not educated on this important protocol. (see comments for the correct kitten worming protocol is).

Kittens aren’t “lollies” to be handed out to anyone who shows interest because they’re free. Whilst this isn’t the case with this particular kitten, it has prompted an important reminder about how important worming is.
Head to BAWCS Facebook page for updates on this kitten’s journey through rescue / foster care and adoption.
