BAWCS advocacy for our wildlife

BAWCS recently made a submission into the Inquiry into Wildlife Roadstrike in Victoria highlighting our personal experience given our Shelter location. We also attended the Bendigo feedback session

The final report into the Inquiry has been released.
The report frames wildlife roadstrike not just as an animal welfare issue, but also a public safety issue: collisions can injure people, damage vehicles, and traumatise drivers.
If implemented, the recommendations could shift the response from reactive (rescue) to proactive prevention (infrastructure, technology, planning).
The focus on data (centralised reporting) could help make the scale of the problem more visible and better target interventions.

The government has 6 months to respond to these recommendations.
